Mary, generally speaking, if you apply for a single-entry S2 type, it allows you to stay for 60 days at most. If you apply for a multiple-entry S2 type, you can stay in PRC for perhaps 90 days at most. It's possible to extend the S2 before it expires without the leaving the country.
