My wife and I are flying from Taiwan to Beijing and then back to Taiwan and we will be in Beijing for less than 72 hours. Do we qualify for the visa-exempt entry? We are both US citizens.

No you don´t qualify as you can´t fly back to the country of departure.You need to fly to a third country.

Thanks Thomas. What if we changed our return flight such that we have a layover in Hong Kong en route to Taiwan? Would that work??
