About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Hi, I'm a Pakistani national with a UAE residence visa based in Abu Dhabi.

I have to travel to HK on business entry permit (visiting my branch office) with my family. For my family, which category should I use in the application form: business or leisure?, secondly does my family application also require my sponsor's form to be attached [i.e. ID(E)1004]. Finally how long does it take to process my entry permit from UAE or HK ? do they also require the original passports to be submitted alongwith the application. Appreciate your help.

Hello, Fasih, your family can apply for visit entry permit and if your family can provide the financial supporting proof, then your sponsor’s form don’t need to be attached. If the embassy of PRC in UAE accepted and handled your application, then it usually takes 4 working days for the whole process and needs your original passport. But if your application is transferred to HK Immigration Department, you need to wait for about 4 to 6 weeks and photocopy of your passport is needed.

Many thanks for your response, so how do I ensure that the applications gets processed in the Chinese embassy so that it doesnt take too long - can my sponsor support in this regard i.e.they can provide sponsor in support directly to the HK embassy ? Im sure there's a quicker process, right?

If you have sponsors in HK, it would be much better. You can ask your sponsor to submit your documents directly to the HK Immigration Department.

For your first question, it just depends on how your application is processed. If Chinese embassy can handle it on their own, then it takes around four working days. If they can't, then they send your documents to HK. In this way, it takes four to six weeks. No one can ensure that your application is dealt with by Chinese embassy for sure.
