Hi, we are planning a one-day trip to the mountain. We will be staying in Jinan and we will take a train to TS Railway Train Station. From the Train station, please advise the best shortest route for us to take to the peak. There are 2 elderly persons travelling with us so we prefer to take cable cars instead of hiking all the way to the peak. Look forward to your reply, thanks!

Hey, for your case, I suggest you take a taxi from the train station to Tianwai Village at a cost of around CNY10. There you can easily transfer to a tourist shuttle bus onto Zhong Tian Men, where the cable car is available. The bus fare is CNY30 per person.
