travel from kunming to Lijiang

Hi can I buy 12 tickets if there are 9 of us? We want to have 3 to a cabin so that we have more space.

it is not easy due to real-name systerm in China unless you could show 12 passports and take 12 passports to get boarding.

You may try to buy the ticket with 12 passport information but do not collect the other 3. Sometimes the staff may keep the bed even through without passengers(may not work everytime, a luck issue as well).
