About:China Visa Application in USA

I was going to go to Chicago and get a visa.

A friend said not to do that,all i need to do get get a plane ticket and at that time they get itfor me, is this correct?

Buzzy, you can prepare all required documents and ask your friends in Chicago to submit and collect your application on your behalf.

sorry, you misunderstod my question. I have no friends in Chicago. The closest place for me to walk in and apply is chicago. Instead of doing that, I was told all I have to do is call the airport (or a travel agency)and get a airline ticket and that they would get one for me. Thanks

Buzzy, you can't choose a Chinese consulate randomly. You are required to apply from the Chinese consulate that has jurisdiction over your living area. If you can't submit and applly in person, you can assign your friend or even an agent to help you with your application.

As for the requirements, it depends on which type you apply.
