what is the best and fastest land way to get to China-Laos border from HK/Shenzhen ?

There are bus from Kunming to Ban Houayxay and Luang Prabang. You may go from HK to shenzhen or guangzhou first and then to Kunming and finally to Laos by bus. BUt for the land route, it did take a long time.
