About:China Embassy in Thailand

can anyone advise on the visa requiments for the both of us?

or any other documents or restrictions that may apply?

im British and my girlfriend is Thai, we are planning to drive through China from Russia in to lao with a dog! In a motorhome. Thanks

First, you should apply for tourist types from Chinese embassy in Russia. To apply for a tourist type, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking are required. Apparently, you plan to drive on your own, so you should acquire an invitation letter from any entity, individual or organization in China.

To drive legally in mainland, you need to get a Chinese driver license. if you have your own driver license, then you need to pass the traffic law examination. Meanwhile, you should find a Chinese travel agent to arrange itineraries for you. The agent can issue the invitation letter to you too. Without the help of travel agent, I am afraid that you can't pass the border control even you have valid entry permit.

So you can see that entry permit isn't a problem. The point is how you get a Chinese driver license.
