Well, you are suggested to take the direct plane. The duration is only about 1.5 hours. There are two schedules every day. Upon getting to Zhangjiajie, take a taxi to reach or go to city center and transfer to a coach.
Or you can take high-speed train from North Railway Station, and go to Changsha South Railway Station. It takes nearly 6 hours. Then walk south to arrive at Lituo Bus Station. There are several buses that can take you to Zhangjiajie Bus Station. After that, hire a private car or take direct coach to arrive at the scenic area.
