is it possible to apply for a multiple entry visa with only my first trip to China booked?

I am a Luxemburgish citizen but moving to Japan soon. As I am planning to visit China more often while living there, is it possible to apply for a multiple entry permit with only my first trip to PRC booked? Or do I need to provide evidence for all my future visits to PRC?
