About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Round trip from USA to Beijing

I will be traveling round trip from the US to Beijing. I will only be in the country for 2 1/2 days. Will this type of trip qualify for the 72hr VISA?

By "round trip", do you mean flying from the US to Beijing and then going back to the US directly? If so, I'm afraid this route is not good for the 72-hour free transit. You can take a direct flight from US to Beijing and then get back via Hong Kong or another country to make your route eligible.

I will be traveling in and out of Beijing. What kind of entry permit do I need? Can I get it at the airport when I arrive? I have a USA passport. Thank you.

You need to apply for a tourist L type visa, which should be obtained in advance at the embassy or consulate.
