Picking up my stuff in Shanghai before returning to Sweden

Hi,

I am a Swedish citizen with a Swedish passport.
September - December 31 I have a wokring and residence permit in China.
I will between December 22 - Jan 10 be backpacking in Soth East Asia-
My return ticket to Sweden is issued from Shanghai and I have a lot of luggage. I therefore need to return from Manilla to Shanghai Jan 10 to pick up my stuff and get on the flight back home. Jan 10 my work and residence permit have expired.

Would the 72 hours transit rule apply to me, so as long as I can show that my next flight leaves within 72 hours I do not need to apply for an visa?
If not, can I apply for a tourist L type or transit G type entry permit from PRC before I return?

Kind Regards
Frida

Frida, if you fly from Manila to Shanghai and then get on the flight back home, you can make use of the 72-hour free transit policy and you are allowed to leave the airport to pick up your luggage.
