Visa required for less than 24 hrs, arriving by cruise

Hi - I am arriving to Shanghai, arriving by cruise ship and going directly to the airport. (I have a US passport). Would I need an entry permit or another document?

Thanks so much!

No, you don't need the entry permit. What you need to do is to apply for a temporary stay permit at the immigration at the port so you can head for the airport.

Will this apply also to other citizen? I'm from the Philippines. Same as Brenna, I'll arrive Shanghai via cruise ship and will go directly to the airport going back to the Philippines

Hi, if your last stop before entering Shanghai is not the Philippines, you can enjoy 24h twov in there, and you can apply for the temporary stay permit then.
