Yes, you are suggested to take direct trains that run between these two places.
The train schedules are 05:19, 11:36, 12:35, 12:48, 13:50 and 19:18. The duration is 6 to 7 hours.
The ticket fare of soft sleeper is CNY158.5 and hard sleeper is CNY107.5.1

Bus is also a good way and its schedules are more dense. At Guangzhou Provincial Bus Station, buses are available from 07:50 to 23:40. It takes 5-6 hours and costs CNY135 per person.1

You mean the bus ticket? Of course you can buy one in advance via its official website. But it's in Chinese only. Actually, there is no need to pre-buy a bus ticket. There should be some left when you arrive. The buses are available every 30 minutes in day peak time and about 60 minutes in normal time.
