Just wondering if this is going to be yr first trip to harbin as i am hoping to visit harbin perhaps early next yr but not sure if it is a good idea as heard halal food isn't convenient to locate and many do not speak english especially the cab drivers so travelling can be of inconvenience, do share your experience once ur there.

I never heard of a reservation like asked for an apartment.
There are real estate agencies who can help you find an apartment.

If the university can not provide accommodation or assistance then you may have to stay in a hotel for a week or so until you have found a place.
