About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

South African Passport holder stop over in Beijing

Hello, I know that I don't need a transit visa for a stop over in Beijing for 12 hours if I stay in the transit area. What permit do I need if I want to visit Beijing during these 12 hours? Thanks in advance!

It's called stay permit. You can apply at the immigration when you arrive. It's actually a stamp on your passport which indicates when you arrive and when you shoud leave.
