About:China Embassy in Thailand

Q visa from Bangkok

Hello, I am a British citizen and will be on holiday in Thailand with my Chinese wife at Christmas. Is it possible to apply for a Q (spouse) type from the embassy in Thailand?

Does it have to be Bangkok or would Chiang Mai also be fine.

Thanks, Jon

Jon, my advice is that you apply from the CVASC center in your country. Yes, UK citizens can apply short-term Chinese entry permits like L in Thailand. However, I am not sure if you can apply for long-term ones there. Even though it's possible, you are required to provide long-term resident permit for employment or study in Thailand. I am afraid that you can't provide this document.
