About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Overnight layover at Pudong; is it worth/safe visiting Shanghai through the nite.

Hi,
We (4 adults) are flying into Pudong Airprt at 7:10 PM and have an option of a flight out at 9:40 PM or next morning at 8:55 AM.
Is a visit to downtown at that time of night safe, worth doing, ... or should we just opt for the 9:40 PM flight?
What would you suggest visiting that late - night markets? night clubs? any détails would be helpful.
If we do go downtown, how is the metro for getting back in the middle of the night/early morning?

Night view along the Bund is very amazing. It's worth visiting. If interested, you can also have a cruise along the Huangpu River. SH is very safe, no orry.

From airport, you can take subway line 2 to East Nanjing Road and stroll along that famous pedestrian street to reach the Bund. There are also many dining places on Nanjing Road.

If you go back to airport in middle night, only taxi will be available and it takes about CNY 200. In early morning, subway line 2 will be an option; the first train departs from East Nanjing Road to Airport at 06:04.
