Regarding passport renewal and residence permit

Dear sir,
I am from india and currently working in PRC, i already have Z-type upto 1st December-2015 then i will prolong my VISA upto 20-Nov-2016 (Before 7 days of my passport expiry date, Passport expiry date is 27-Nov-2016). Now i have new query that is suppose i renew my passport before 2~3 month (i.e. August-2016), do i need again resident permit to live in china with new passport?? Because my Z type and residence permit would be provid upto 20-Nov-2016 with my current passport (Old). So i am confused if i renew passport before 2~3 months of expiry of passport then again do i need to apply for residence permit??
I can understand it is better to renew passport before two month.
So what should i do in this situation??
Please guide me.
