is there a huge difference in chinese v.s. malaysian wedding customs?

My fiance' is born in Malaysia but is 100 Chinese and lives in Malaysia.  I'm being told the customs and requirements may be a bit different in terms of Money to parents and dowry and all of that.  Appreciate your expertise here!

Chris, you may not know that different places in China have different requirements in terms of bride price and dowry. So it's normal that Malaysian Chinese have different wedding customs compared with Chinese people. But you should understand one thing that both bride price and dowry can be negotiated. If you think they ask too much, you can talk this with her parents.
