About:China Visa Application in UK

Am I covered by the 72-hour transit visa if I go into Beijing?

I have about 20 hours to spend in Beijing airport en route to Auckland. I would like to see some sights in Beijing but will not stay overnight. Do I need the full tourist L type or is the 72 hour transit enough? What is the procedure for leaving and re-entering the airport? There appears to be no procedure to apply for this free transit.

Brian, no problem. You can enjoy the 72-hour free transit pilicy. The L type entry permit is not necessary. Upon arrival at the airport, you can go to the counter for handling 72-hour free transit service. Apply for it and fill in some forms. Then you can get a stamp on your passport, indicating the date you enter and leave. Then you can leave the airport and reenter.
