Day visit to Macau

I am a uk citizen working with a work visa in Hong Kong for five weeks. I'd like to make a day trip to Macao and come back to continue working in Hong Kong after (still within the five weeks). Is there anything I need to do? Can I just arrive in Macao? Will it invalidate my work permit?
Thanks,
Adrian

Adrian, what is the number of entry on your work permit? If it's for double or multiple entries, then you can leave for Macao without problems. You don't need the entry permit for Macau.

It says "good for a single journey to Hong Kong" and was stamped "Journey Complete" when I arrived.

Well, you can use it to enter HK only once. As you have UK passport, you can enter HK again, but you can't continue your work after re-entering.
