About:Mount Huashan

Hello. We are planning to climb Mt. Huashan past tomorrow.

We want to see the main passes, like Black Dragon Ridge and overall Plank Road. Two questions:

-What could be a good itinerary to climb the mountain, see those passes and go down with the cable car?

-How much time would we need to climb the mountain following that route?

Thank you in advance.

You can follow this route: Climb up from the entrance to North Peak, then east Peark, South Peak and West Peak. Take the cable car down to the mountain. The overall plank road is located at the east side of the south peak, well the black dragon pool is located at mountain foot of the south peak. Climbing up the mountain may takes about 6-7 hours.

Hi Grace!!!

Thanks for your answer. Another two.

-Although we are fit, maybe my girlfriend won't want to hike 6-7 hours. Then, if we take the cable car to North Peak, make the itinerary as you told, and take the cable car mountain down at West Peak, how many hours would we need to hike from North Peak to West Peak?

-Do you think it would be a good idea if we go directly to the West Peak by cable car and hike to South Peak (to see Plank Road)? The main target for us is Plank Road.

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, you get the point. If taking the cable car to North Peak, the route is the same. And the hiking hours is about 2 -3 hours.

I know your target is the plank road, but since you have reached up the mountain, you are suggested to cover the most highlights of the scenic area. Well, the plank road experience is just about 10 mins. Apart from the plank road, there are other stunning spots in the South and West Peak. You will see upon arrival.

Hi Juanjo. To avoid much hiking, taking cable car to West Peak and walking to the South Peak to experience the Plank Road is a good choice. Then climb to other peaks for sightseeing. Go down to North Peak in 1-2h to take the cable car down.
