Travelling between Beijing and Ulaanbataar

Hi. I am trying to contemplate if it is cheaper to travel to Ulaanbataar from Beijing and back or to fly. Will appreciate it if you can advise on cost for travel to 1) Ulaanbataar from Beijing and back 2) Single trip from Ulaanbataar to Beijing.
Also, from Ulaanbataar to Beijing, does train service this route on Thursday only each week?
Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Best regards,
Dara.

For sometime, the direct flight may even cheaper. You can check it in details by the date. The ride should run 3 times a week usually. The one way may round USD200 to 300 based on different class. By the way, for the trip from Ulaanbataar to Beijing, you need to book it in Ulaanbataar instead.

The price on this websit for hard sleeper is CNY1379(US$221), not too expensive. I think it will be much more enjoyable to take a train.
