About:Forbidden City

Closest hotel to forbidden city

Hey! I was wondering what the closest hotel is to the imperial palace. Is there one that is within very close walking distance? Basically, I want to be as close as possible with reasonable accommodations. I will be there on Oct. 16th. What entrance and is there anything I should do before coming to make sure I can visit?

Hi Arun, I happen to know a Jade Garden Hotel. It is close to the East Gate of the palace, but visitors are only alllowed to enter from Meridian Gate (Wu Men or South Gate). Though, this still is a good accommodation choice. You'd better check it further to know more about the hotel.

As for visiting, the entrance tickets are limited to 80,000, so it is best to reserve a ticket in advance. But the office website for ticket booking only has Chinese version. Luckily, you will stay near the palace. I highly suggest you get up early to enjoy the National Flag Raising Ceremony on Tiananmen Square first and go to line up so that you can get a ticket on the spot.

You can book the ticket and make the appointment on the official website in advance.
Your Chinese friend can easily found the booking page. So Don't worry. Let her help you.
