About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Permanent residence status

I hold a canadian passport and also have become a permanent resident of Japan do I still need to apply for a visa to go to Shanghai? I will book a ticket and hotel online is this ok to hand in or do I need to go through a travel agent as mentioned in other emails above

Scott, permanent resident status doesn't mean that you become a Japanese. Unless you have Japanese passport, you still need to apply for Chinese entry permit via qualified travel agencies in advance.
