I am bringing a laptop to China as a gift for a friend. What do I need to do?

Jimbob, you can remove its box and then take it with you. If the customs asks, you just say it's for personal use. However, if you just bring it in its original box, I think you might be taxed. 20 percent of its total value is deducted.
