About:Traveling Cost in China

Is the food or trains/buses expensive?

I was wondering if china is expensive, because i want to go to a cheaper country and not spend as much money as i normally would during the holidays. Im not interested in anything fancy just standard food/transport/hotels.

No, China is not expensive especailly compared with eastern countries.
About the train fare, it varies based on class, running distance, etc. Take Beijing to Shanghai for instance, the ticket fare for a hard sleeper on an ordinary train is about CNY300, a second-class seat on a bullet train is about CNY550.
About city buses, it usually takes about CNY1-2 per ride. And for the more convenint subway, it takes about CNY3-15 per ride based on distance.
For hotel, CNY200-300 per night, you can stay in a regular but clean room.
For food, CNY30-100 per meal is enough.
You can make a comparasion by yourself.
