is the foodtrains/buses expensive?

I was wondering if china is expensive, because i want to go to a cheaper country and not spend as much money as i normally would during the holidays. Im not interested in anything fancy just standard food/transport/hotels.

No, China is not expensive especailly compared with eastern countries.About the train fare, it varies based on class, running distance, etc. Take Beijing to Shanghai for instance, the ticket fare for a hard sleeper on an ordinary train is about CNY300, a second-class seat on a bullet train is about CNY550.About city buses, it usually takes about CNY1-2 per ride. And for the more convenint subway, it takes about CNY3-15 per ride based on distance. For hotel, CNY200-300 per night, you can stay in a regular but clean room. For food, CNY30-100 per meal is enough.You can make a comparasion by yourself.
