Well, upon landing, you can take airport shuttle bus to get to Railway Station first. Then take subway line 1 to get to Passenger Transport Center, Exit A. There are many direct coach that can take you to Shanghai.
The schedules in the afternoon are from 12:40 to 19:07 with the interval of 15 to 20 mins. It costs CNY 68 per person. It takes 2.5 to 3 hours.

Hi Lisa, thank you for your inputs! May I check with train station should I stop that? Hangzhou East train station or the main hangzhou train station? Also is the passenger transport centre in the same area or you have to take the subway a few stops away? Thanks in advance!

Oh, take airport shuttle bus to get to Main Railway Station first.
And yes, subway line 1 can take you to the transrport center directly. It's easy for you to find the direction. Don't worry.
