Double entry tourist visa with flexibility

Dear sir / madam,

I intend to enter China twice on a tourist L type. I will first fly in to Kunming and then out via Hong Kong. The second entry will hopefully be from Ulan Bator by train and out of Shanghai by plane. I am happy booking the first two tickets, but I don't really want to book the second inbound and outbound tickets yet as I want to keep a flexible itinerary. Do you have any idea how I could go about this? I considered getting a single-entry type where I live, and then apply for another single-entry one in Ulan Bator for my second entry. Would that work?

Best
Daniel

Yes, Daniel, you can apply for a single entry from where you live first and then apply for another one from Ulan Bator.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I called the Visa Application Centre in the Netherlands, where I live, and they suggested that I could get a double entry without four flights. They said if I book the first two (in and out) and then book a hostel abroad for the time I'm away and the time after, that shouldn't be a problem. I've not heard about this before - could you give me your views on whether or not that would be accepted?

Daniel, you can do as the CVASC center suggested. You can choose a hotel that allows you to cancel your booking. Then you can cancel it after you getting your double-entry L type.

Hi again, thanks for the response. I'm getting the impression it's OK if you just do some effort to show that you're actually going to do what you intend on doing and will definitely be out before the visa expires - which is what I've tried to demonstrate :-) Even got a polite letter explaining my situation. Will get it all sorted and handed in monday, so fingers crossed.
