About:Dazu Rock Carvings

I would very much like to visit Dazu Buddhist Caves.

I will be arriving Chongqing on October 17 at 9:10am and will be taking a Yangtze River Cruise on October 18. It would be ideal for me to join a local tour for this visit but I was told that doing this tour on October 18 might mean that I might not make it back in time for the cruise (if there is traffic). On the other hand, I would be arriving too late (9:10am) to join a tour on October 17. So, I want to look into visiting Dazu Caves by myself.
* which bus (bus #) should I take from CQ to Dazu? After I get off the bus, should I take a taxi to Baoding Shan and Bei Shan?
* after arriving at 9:10am, it will take me some time to go to the hotel first to check in. So, I would imagine that I probably wouldn't be able to leave until ~10am. Is it too late to visit the Caves?
* how much time should I allow myself? Will I be returning to my hotel very late after visiting Caves?
* are there restaurants at Baoding Shan and Bei Shan?
* are there any day tours that could fit my schedule?
Thanks

In Longtousi Bus Station, there are 12 buses to DZ from 07:10 to 20:30. The bus fare is CNY35 and the duration is about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, you are suggested to take a taxi to the scenic area, and the fare is about CNY25 – 30.

Well, it's a little bit late, but not too late. 3-4 hours are enough for sightseeing there. If taking a boat to tour around, you may can catch the stunning sunset.

I suggest you spend 3 hours for the sightseeing, which enables to cover most the highlight spots. After visiting the caves, you can still catch the bus back to Chongqing. Till 20:00, in Wanzhou Pasengers Transportation center, there are still buses available. You can make it.

Yes, there are restaurants at the foot of the mountain in the village. But I’m not sure if the food agrees with your taste, so you’d better pack up some easy carrying food.

AS you arrive a little bit late, the group day tours may not fit you as the group members my not like to wait for you. In that case, the private itinerary will be mor suitable for you. As I know, this website has private itineraries and they can even tailor-make tours. If interested, this is their contact info: travel travelchinaguide.com

Thank you for the helpful information.
Is the Longtusi bus station the same as the Caiyuanba Bus Station, which (I believe) is right next to the Railway Station at Caiyuanba?

Is there luggage storage service at the Railway Station at Caiyuanba? If there is, may be I can save some time by storing the luggage at the train station and head to Dazu Caves after getting off the train, instead of going to the hotel first.

Thanks

No, they are different bus stations. The one near the railway station is Caiyuanba Bus Station, also called CQ City Bus Station. There you can also take a bus to DZ, but the bus schedule is not as dense as that in Longtousi Bus Station. The schedules are at 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00...

If you are going to take a bus from Caiyuanba, you can deposit your luggage in the railway station. Near the entrance, you can see several left luggage sites, the price is also cheap, but remember to take the valuables, like passports, credit cards, phones, jewelry and electronic items with you.

Is it easy to get to Longtusi bus station from the Railway Station at Caiyuanba?

You mentioned that the bus from Longtusi bus station to Dazu takes 1.5 hours. How long does it take from the Ciayuanba bus station to Dazu?

Thank you
