change from a spousal residents permit to a working one

Question

Hi,I have lived in China for the past 10 years and for the first 6 years had a working residents visa and work permit. After leaving the company I remained in China with my Chinese wife and switched to a spouse residents permit.I now wish to return to work soon so need to apply for the correct permits but could you please explain the process.

Phil, first, you need to be employed by a company. Next, ask the company to obtain a work permit and invitation letter from duly authorized unit for you. Then change your Q1 type to Z type at the local exit & entry adminsitration office. Last, apply for a work certificate at the labor bureau and renew your residence permit.
