L or S2 visa from South Africa

My son is working in China, and we would like to visit him. For the S2 type, his birth certificate is needed, but our names as his parents does'nt appear on the birth certificate. Will that be a problem? We plan to visit for 2 weeks, staying at his place.

If the parents' names are not on the birth certificate, there will be some problems. You may be required to submit more proofs to show your relationship. I advise you not to apply for the S2 type. You can totally apply for an L type. In this case, an letter from your son will be enough. You do not need to submit the birth certificate or something else.
