About:China Visa Application in USA

Do I need a visa for a one-night stay at a hotel in Beijing? I am actually travelling through China.

I (US Citizen) have a night layover of 12 hours between flights. I would rather sleep in a hotel than in the airport. Is it possible for me to leave the airport to go to the hotel without entry permit?

Alex, you needn't because you are qualified for 72 hours free transit there.
