About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

travel zone around Shanghai

If i want to see sights in Suzhou next to Shanghai while on 72 hours visa,
just next to Shanghai, is that reasonably allowed? How far is the zone?
I know the standard answer is Shanghai but anyone in China administration

Jamie, in principle, you can't go beyond the administrative region of Shanghai during the 72 hours and Suzhou is not within the administrative region of Shanghai. If you do want to go to Suzhou, you may just go there. But remember that you should exit from Shanghai and bear the possible bad consequence.
