safety issues

Question

I'll be traveling from Shanghai to Hangzhou via G-train.  As this is my first time visiting China, I've some concerns about the luggage.  Is it safe to place in the designated compartment if I'm seated far away? I'm worried that my luggage will be gone by the time I reached Hangzhou! Just my concern.

Usualy only large sized luggage need to be arranged at the connection of the carriages. If it is not too big in size, you can just place it at the rack above you. If you do need to arrange them at the carriage connection, maybe you can see if you can change seat with other people near it.
