How can I request for a certified copy of a marriage certificate in China?

Hi, my aunt was married in China but now lives in the US. She needs to show California Social Services to collect her late husband's benefits since she is not retired. Please advise. Thank you.

Jassy, if your aunt is not Chinese citizen, you should first have her marriage certificate notarized by a notary office in China. Then tranlate the marriage certificate by a qualified translation company. Next, go to the US consulate or embassy in China and have the marriage book authenticated.

Hi Donna, thank you for your reply. Would you know how I can request for the marriage certificate by not having to travel to China? I found a request for search of marriage certificate. But am not sure how to send it with the fees. Please advise.

Thank you sooo much!

Jassy, I personally think she should go to China to process it on her own. This is the safest way. If she can't, she might assign someone there to help her go through the process.
