Hi Chen! You can renew your passport through the Chinese consulate in Melbourne. First prepare the following documents:
1. Overseas application form (Form ID 843)
2. Three recent colour photographs with white background
3. Your Hong Kong permanent identity card
4. Your previous passport

Then go to the consular office and apply for the renewal.

As the office will transfer your application to HK, you need to pay 40 Australian dollars to the office and fees of the passport itself to HK government. The passport fee varies according to the pages and validity.
