can i change my X2 visa to Z type in hongkong? im currently a student in mainland china

iam a Zambian passport holder and im currently studying Chinese language in mainland, now I got a job and I wish to change my visa from X2 to Z type. my employers have done everything possible and I was granted a foreigner expert License to work. now I wish to travel back either to Zambia or to HK to re apply a Z type so that my status can change from student to foreign expert, I have all the documents required to get the Z type. and my student type/resident permit has enough entries to and from the mainland, but my question is, is there a 100% possibility that I can apply in HK? without any complications? help please.. I also would be glad.

alphonsus, I think you should get back to Zambia and apply from Chinese embassy there. According to the latest requirement, those who apply in HK must provide their valid resident status. I assume that you don't have this so that you have little chance to apply in HK.
