i am going to china with my chinese visa (x1 visa).

my university is in shangahai. but i want to go first guangzhou to visit my friend. so, is it possible?

Ashara, I personally do not think you should do that. You have to understand that your X1 is just valid for 30 days. You should go to Shanghai as soon as you can. When you arrive, you should apply for the resident permit immediately. It takes around 15 working days. So you do not have much time. After you submit your application, then you can go to visit your friends. The receipt given by the entry and exit management bureau is ok for buying tickets and booking accommodation. You can travel with it instead of your passport.
