guangzhou airport to city centreback in a day

Question

I will be travelling on December 20 and i have a full day stop (6.30 AM to midnight) in CAN. I don't know Chinese at all and I would avoid losing or being late especially on the return trip to the airport. I would like to visit the city centre (Canton Tower and/or Chen Family Ancestral Temple). Could you suggest me the lines (bus or subway) to go there and to come back, with also some tips to recognize them, and a reasonable time that it is needed to avoid being late?Thanks

To Canton Tower:If you fear for getting lost, you can also use the subway. Take the Line 3 from airport south to Canton Tower Station. Take the Exit A you will see the tower. When you go back to the airport, still catch the subway line at the subway station. The travel time is about 47 mins, and the fare is CNY8.To Chen Family Ancestral TempleYou can still use the subway. Take the metro line 3 from the airport south to West Tiyu Road, where you can transfer to line 1 to Chenjiaci (Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family) Station. The travel time is about 50 mins, and fare is CNY7.Since you have known the travel time of the subway train ride, you need to reach the airport at least 2.5 hours before your onward flight’s departure.
