The first step is to prepare all required documents, including your valid passport, a photocopy of the passport's data page, a properly filled-out application form attached with your recently-taken half-length photo, the original and photocopy of your stay permit or residence permit in Malaysia, and an invitation letter from a relevant entity in China. Then go to the CVASC in KL and apply for an M type.

The process takes four working days in general.
