I am a 61 year old Canadian with a degree and TESL certificate and have been offered a job in Leshan, I have a letter of invitation from the school On taking my documents to the visa office I was told I must obtain the original letter as well as an original "Alien worker" How long will it take for my employer to obtain such and have you any idea of the time it will take to arrive in Canada with expedited post? I have my plane ticket booked for Aug 20 and time is short. Is it possible to obtain the Z type when I arrive in China if I travel on a tourist type entry permit? I have many years experience in both business and medical English. Thanks. Mary

Fuxi Leshan … I have been in touch with them and they are going to send me the forms required.
I hope the papers arrive in time to obtain my visa.

Mary, generally speaking, it takes seven working days to processing the Alient Work License. It takes about a week to send the original copy of these documents from China to Canada. In addition, I don't advise you to enter China with the tourist L type and then conver it to Z type. It's too risky to do so.

I agree.
Though it depends on the school and province.
The school can express the letter to you. The embassy MAY accept a fax direct to them from the school.
