ill be moving in 5 big cities inluding shanghai, beijing, shawsheen, Guangzhou over a span of 16 days. flight and hostels and further travelling are not my part.

It depends on how many pieces of souvenir you plan to buy. You need to pay for the transportation and meals on your own, right? Suppose you spend CNY 100 on meals and transportation per day, then you have only CNY 1400 for buying souvenir. Besides, you need to buy the entrance tickets for the tourist sites on your own, right? I personally think you might take CNY 5000 with you.
