About:China Private Visit Visa

S1 visa or other

I am from the UK and working out in china for the next 5 years. I have a foreigner residence permit that needs to renewed every year. I want my mother to come and live with me for as long as possible and not too sure what type she needs, I assume its S1?

I need clarification the the below statement. "Original and a photocopy of certification such as a marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by the Public Security Bureau (or notarized certification of kinship) showing their immediate family relationship."

Does this mean I have to get my birth certificate notarized? by the Chinese embassy in UK?

Matt, you are right, you mother should apply for the S1 type.

Before going to the Chinese embassy to authenticate your birth certificate, you should have this certificated notarized by a notary pulic first and then notarized by the UK Foreign Affairs Ministry or its authorized agencies.

thanks for the repsonse.
Can you confirm if I can apply for the s1 first without completing legalization & Chinese embassy authentication? I assume this process is only required when taking the birth cert to china to convert the S1 to residence permit?
