About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Can i apply for residence permit 20 days after my arrival to China? i have x-visa

my school opens on 1st september but i wanna go a few weeks earlier and stay with my sister in another city before going to school

I'm afraid not, you have to get the residence permit within 30 days. Otherwise, when the 30 days run out, you will overstay in China.
