About:Ge Garden

my employer has provided the necessary invitation to support my husband in getting a S1 visa.

I'm moving to China next week. The embassy in his country is insisting he gets a letter from the Chinese government. I've been told this is impossible for a spousal application. Is there any way around it?

Mary, if the consular officer ask for the leter from Chinese government, then you have to provide it. I have another option for you, but it's risky. You can apply a tourist L type for your husband and enter China with him. Then try to get the S1 type at local exit and entry administration of PSB for him. However, it's not guaranteed that he will definitely get it.

Thanks for your response. We also tried that but again they said they require a letter from the Chinese government. Is it possible to get one once I'm landed and have received my residency?

I'm afraid the situation will be the same. If you have no other ways, you can try to get this letter from agencies.
