Cable car tickets using Octopus Card ?

Hello,

I have a layover time of 6-7hrs at Hong kong airport. So am planning to visit Big buddha (On a Friday).

One of my friend has offered me his Octopus card which I believe is used for public transportation. But is it possible to buy Cable car tickets for big buddha using this octopus card ?

Thanks in advance !

Regards

No, the card cannot be used to buy the cable car tickets. I suggest you prepare some cash for the cable car. In the airport, there are ATM and currency exchange sites.

Thank you lily for the information.

I just wanted to know for how much amount should I recharge the Octopus card ... I may not be visiting HK in near future, so do not want to leave more unused dollars in the card..

Thanks again.

The NP360 cable car doesn't accept payment with the Octopus Card, so you should exchange some cash. It costs 155HKD for a round trip on standard cable car and 265HKD on a crystal one. The bus line S1 from HKIA to Tung Chung Station, within walking distance to the cable car only costs 3.5HKD. No need to deposit the card at all. Just pay in cash.
