You can also go to Kanas and Turpan. In Kanans, you can see the most beautiful lakes and sightseeing. While in Turpan, you can have a taste the fruits there, which is also famous. The landscape sightseeing in Turpan is also worth your visit.
In Sep, it will be hot and dry at that time, the average temp is about 70 – 72 F. It will be even hotter in Turpan, you need to wear T-shirts and shorts.

Wow, it is a plant that are widely plantd in that area, and the most typical area is around the Tarim Basin area. Well, you are going to Kashgar, it is a city with a lot of fig trees. There you can see the plantation and buy some dry fruits.

Thank you so much for your info, another thing to ask you is that if I fly in from Beijing and land at Urumqi, what is the best way to go to kashgar ( I only can spend 3 days and must return to Urumqi) and how far is away from kashgar to reach hotan?

There are direct trains from Urumqi to Kashgar, but the train ride is about 19 hours. Your three days are a bit tight. I suggest you take a flight instead. SO you can just take your time to enjoy your travel.

It is about 300 miles around between Kashgar and Hotan. There is also a train to Hotan, leaving at 10:16, and the train ride is about 8 hours.
