shortest and faster route of train from Hong Kong to Nanning

Can I take rail from hunghum in Hong Kong to Futian and take inter-city rail through Shenzhen north . Take inter-city rail to Guangzhou south . then take high speed rail from Guangzhou south station to Nanning east station.

or can I take Hong Kong-Guangzhou transit train to Guangzhou East and take the taxi to Guangzhou ( can I use line 1 or Line 3 subway ) South station and take train from Guangzhou South station to Nanning .
